MB FX68 Honeycomb Spool

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Post by Draethe84 » Mon Jun 06, 2016 6:15 am

Hey guys,
I have been looking around for this spool for a while and all i can find is the steez variant model spool never the T3 model. If any of you guys know where i could find one that would help.
Thanks as always,
Ronan.

Take a look at the diy chinese spools. Cheap alternative. A lot of us are having pretty good results with them.

I have had a look at them my only problem is I want a spool for finesse with plenty of line capacity like the megabass honeycomb.

Didn't know they made one, aren't they only available for the IS and Zonda?

The words "finesse" and "line capacity" simply do NOT go hand in hand. All true BFS spools are shallow design spools. As for one to fit the FX reels, the IS Honeycomb spool will fit it. They both take a 34mm spool, just as the T3 1016 spool will drop into any Steez, TDZ, ect.

Will fit the T3 if you change out the spool bearing to one with a reduced width.
Then no need to remove any shaft tension shims.
However the honey comb offers little gains over the SV spools.

So the knock off versions hold less capacity than the MB honeycomb version?

There is no FX68 Honeycomb, only the IS, Zonda, and IP version. I suggest doing what Africanbass suggested with the bearing swap, hes kind of a guru of the T3 reels

So i had a peak at one of my friends BFS spools like this, they cast pretty sweet with better bearings. This may also be a consideration.

Yeah the last few I've seen have been north of $300, very few and far between.
