Metanium '13 handle

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Yes, all Metanium '13 handles are interchangeable. I replaced my Metanium 100 84mm handle with the 96mm handle from an XG model. Great inexpensive upgrade.

x2

don't like the HG handle length or smaller paddles once I used the XG handle. This should be the stock handle on all the Mets and if someone wants to put a shorter handle on one they could.

X3 96mm is the way to go, upgraded all of mine with it

I've upgraded a few of my Ci4's with the XG handle... I agree it should be the stock handle on everything Ci4 and higher.

I bought mine directly from Shimano:
http://fish.shimano.com/
Click on "Parts" and follow the links.

OR

You can call them at:
Customer Service. (877) 577-0600

Shipping is fast and cheap.

Current price is a very reasonable $12.84. (for handle only - no knobs, etc.)
Description: HANDLE SHANK ASSEMBLY
Part number: BNT4827 (fits both right and left-hand models)

How do you safely remove the handle knob seals to get at the handle knob screws? Never done it before.

Straighten one end of a paper clip. Bend the straightened end at a right-angle about 1/8-inch to create a hook. Place the hook in the hole and pull.

P.S. You should consider also purchasing 2 or 3 extra washers to get that perfect fit on the new handle and knobs too. Shimano calls it a "washer", but they should be called "shims". I've had reels with 1 "washer", but 2 is common. They are the same size on just about all Shimano knobs, so you can use them with other reels too. The information is below:

Discription: WASHER
Part number: BNT4431
Price: $0.99 ea.

Thanks.

Of course I've already placed my order with shimano! I'll order the washers if fitment becomes a concern.

Shimano's website shows the "Handle Assembly" is out of stock with an ETA of 2016/08/25. The assembly includes knobs, bearings, etc. Why don't you just order the "Handle Shank" that I posted earlier (it's in stock) and use your current handle's knobs, bearings, screws, washers, and caps? Seems like a simple solution. ;)
