Shimano Conquest 401 spool removal
Shimano Conquest 401 spool removal
Hello All,
I just received a Shimano Conquest 401 from JapanLureShop. I was trying to figure out how to remove the spool, but am stuck! From what I read from the 200 size, there is a latch inside the SVS brake compartment, where I can flip the latch and the spool will come out. I do not have this latch I do not know if the 401 is any different, so for all you JDM Conquest owners, please help me out.
If the picture is too small, please tell me so I can email you a larger photo. My 2mb photo was too large so I had to resize >.<

Re: Shimano Conquest 401 spool removal
Edit* there is no latch for the 400, you have to unscrew the thing off.
Re: Shimano Conquest 401 spool removal
guessing the original calcutta's remove the two screws? Will the conquest be the same?

Yeah you do, didn't realize yours was a 400 and had brain fart.

Re: Shimano Conquest 401 spool removal
Hi, I have the same issue. I had searched online extensively but unable to find a definite solution. I don’t know how to remove the spool from the Conquest 401. I see only 1 screw, do I just unscrew it to remove the spool? Thanks!

If I remember right, the non-disengaging level wind reels requires the removal of the handle side plate to actually remove the spool.
The palming side plate is mere access to the brakes.
