USDM Daiwa zillion tws XXS 9.1 Questions

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

USDM Daiwa zillion tws XXS 9.1 Questions

Post by frogman1963 » Wed Aug 26, 2015 1:20 am

For you guys that own one, daiwa zillion tws xxs 9.1 reel, does it come with a 100mm handle vs the 90mm for the other retrieve ratios? And is there only one bearing on the worm drive or one bearing and one bushing? Thanks Guys

It does have a 100mm handle. Don't know about the worm drive.

Really...? I do not see anything on TW or the Daiwa website that mentions any of the Zillion -TWS reels with a 100mm handle ...only the yet to be introduced HD version shows a 100mm handle.

After looking at the TW pics and the Project T vid it does look like a 100 mil handle to me.

To the OP, I dug out the parts diagram and it shows #74 - ball bearing and #67 - worm shaft spacer.
Don't know if the spacer can be changed to a bearing. Maybe this winter I'll check it out.
Trust me guys, it is a 100mm handle.

I do know that extra high speed steez comes with a 100mm handle. I think it's th ex the one with the purple highlight, maybe it was confused with the zillion 9.1 extra high speed. That also has the purple. Just a thought.

Thanks for the info TommyG, I got my reel on this past Friday, unfortunately I haven't got a chance to put it in action yet, but, sure feels nice, love the speed. Like you said it does have the 100mm handle and that is the same daiwa part number you listed is what my reel schematics says. As far as the level wind, I'm going with T.T. review that it has a bearing and a collar. Can't wait to do some frogging, pitching and flipping.

The JDM version XXS has the same 90mm version as the others.

Anyone wanna trade the handle off a fairly new...(used 1 day) handle from a JDM TWS XXS-RH . Has the regular Steez type knobs and not the paddle knobs for the USDM 100mm version with the paddle knobs.

Straight across trade---exchange shipping?
I will send mine first for your approval.

You're welcome bro, took me a bit to get used to the speed, but dang, the jig is back for another flip crazy fast.
Got good power also, so far, so good, pretty happy.

You can also get the steez 100 ex xs 100mm handle with rubber coated cork nobs with (I think) 2 bearings per nob ( I can't remember when I took them apart) from tackle trap for $65. Got one for my tatula 8.1 had to use a different retainer screw and nut. The hedgehog one works great.
