Are TDZs getting hard to find??
Re: Are TDZs getting hard to find??
Several tdz 103ml on tackleberry for under $100. Can probably get those shipped stateside for $110 or less. Saw a nice one in B condition (which looked new) for $86.
Drop in an SV spool and you are good to go.

Thats a nice lookin reel. There are still a few gems floating around
Re: Are TDZs getting hard to find??
The other side of it is....they are amazingly tough reels apparently. The finish obviously is not but I have bought some TD-Z's (cheap) that, based on looks alone, one would consider them well past dead but once cleaned up they still work great! I have several that have just amazed me and I love fishing them!
If you can work on them, and your priority is to fish them, the ugly ones often represent excellent value. And....you don't have to worry about scratching them up and I like that about them too.

This is exactly what I love about them! I picked up two 103 ML's and a 100ML for $300. None of them are in mint aesthetic shape, but after a cleaning and lube they all perform amazingly.jeff h wrote:The other side of it is....they are amazingly tough reels apparently. Re: Are TDZs getting hard to find??
Yup. I keep a few spare spools on hand (R, R+, ZPI, etc) to tune up less aesthetically pleasing td-z's and use em. When you find em for $100 or so it's an excellent value.jeff h wrote:The other side of it is....they are amazingly tough reels apparently. I would love to pick up a few TDZ's but I don't need another 6.3:1 reel. Right handers are just out of luck on the higher gears.

How do the U.S. Trails compare to the 103h?
Thinking about a U.S. Trail for squarebills now.

I use my 100M for spinnerbaits and squarebills. Works great for that. I use 14 lb mono, plenty of capacity.biggs wrote:How do the U.S. Trails compare to the 103h?
