Whatever the user is happy with. But I guarantee you that a Med hey with a low end lure rating of 3/8 oz is no gonna throw a 1/8 oz lure as far as a rod with a low end lure rating of 1/16 oz when throwing a 1/8 oz lure with a BFS reel. My point is as mentioned by myself numerous times in my 10 years on TT. BFS reels introduced in the USA by Daiwa really does not help them in the rod sales dept. They have only the Megatop to put with it. Although the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Procyon line did offer some ML's. Brink over the Steez Harrier Finesse or the Black Label models that have rods in the 1/16 to 1/2 and great finesse BC rods for Finesse.

What do you consider good distance for a BFS setup?

I was getting 12-15 meters throwing 1/16 oz keitech jig w/o trailers using IMX 722 so I would consider that fair for the rod.

I woud be happy with that length,...a 7 footer would probably add another 5 meters and a even lighter tip may add an additional 5 meters.

I am fine with the distance, but the accuracy is quite poor since I have to whip it out there. Eyeing a little BFS rod by the end of the month, and that should improve a bit of distance and a lot of accuracy.

These are the rods that I think you would be happy with and wish Daiwa would bring over to the US, at least 1 or 2 of them.

I like the longer finesse longer rods for longer casting in gin clear water to avoid spooking...so anything under 6-8 is too short for me. I would actually like something more in the 7 foot to 7-3" length.

Gonna wait and see what new intros come out of ICAST---Just 4 weeks away...if nothing strikes my fancy...I will be pulling the trigger on either a Black Label or a Steez and maybe both from the JDM.
Hope that there is something at the lower end of lure weight 1/16 or even 1/8 in the Steez AGS or Steez-XT line. Looks like they may be adding something to the Zillion line also. But my guess is it will be Glass.

Note: This last portion of the thread probably needs to be moved to the rod section post of ICAST-2015.

I do a lot of fishing in city creeks so 6'3" is perfect for me. I look forward to trying a SVF compile x rod with its high carbon content. It is going to match my reel in color so it should be great .

I have found that I can increase accuracy with my BFS setups by only having 3-4" of dropdown to the lure when I cast. That way, I can keep my spool tension a little looser, too, for more distance, but any more dropdown than that gets the spool overreved on the cast, and I get back lashes. I can throw 5/16 oz. Orbit 80 jerkbaits, and 3/16 oz split shot, into the wind with this setup, as long as I don't let my thumb go to sleep. Hahaha

It def looks smaller. It looks like the same body style as the Steez SV 105xhl

just the angles. the steez sv and new limited reels are same size.

Ah, thought so.. body looks the same as well. I just posted this question actually..

they are the same size, just bigger gear boxes for the steez 7.9 and 8.1 limited.
