Daiwa Tatula Not Good in the Salt

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

last tip. i ALWAYS have atleast a gallon of fresh water in my car to rinse after i fish. being lazy for 1 night is all it takes for your reel to corrode in sd or mission bay. rinse off after you fish, and do a thorough cleaning when you get home. good luck out there

good luck with that mist method. you seen the results first hand.

i have no idea how fresh water can damage your reel. but to each their own

Been using the tatulas since they came out exclusively in the salt and to be honest I am not the greatest at maintenance as a couple of them live in the jeep so I can fish whenever I get the chance and don't always get a bath. I haven't had a problem with any of them yet.... odd.

imagine boaters spray misting their boats instead of flushing the engine and scrubing the boats after going in the salt.

if that makes any sense

any reel will fail without properly maintaining it.

Well I am going to listen to the experts who have professional experience with maintaining reels.

Here is shimano's recommended maintenance for baitcasting reels. Scroll down and look at Heavy Duty Maintenance.
