Differences between PX Type R and PX68
Aside from the two extra bearings in the knobs, and the knobs being cork on the Type R, are there any other technical or performance differences between the two reels? Thanks in advance!

Clicking dragstar on the R. The R is a touch heavier due to the longer driveshaft and extra parts to accommodate the clicky bits.

Ah, ok. Is it just the drag star that clicks or the cast control knob as well?

Just the star.

Last question: does the PX68 come with the high speed line guide gearing? If not, is the Tackle Trap the place to ask about that? Thanks (again!)!

Yes. it has the high-speed worm gear for the level wind. Tackle Trap has the bearing upgrade kit to replace the bushing there. On a side note, that worm gear can be put on any Fuego or TDZ to speed up the line guide. I put one on one of my TDZ's and found it helped with preventing light braid from digging in on itself when a fish takes drag.adam lancia wrote:Last question: does the PX68 come with the high speed line guide gearing? Hey, that's some good news. I ordered a bearing for the level wind, but I was starting to wonder about the small spacer that I'm going to need. Does that come with the kit from Gary? I'll keep the TDZ upgrade in mind, I picked up a US Trail last month but I don't think I'll be using light braid on it.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yeah, there should be a plastic spacer included with the bearing.

Re: Differences between PX Type R and PX68
When I have both reels out side by side checking them out. I choose the type r 10 out of 10 times. It just feels better. I have the spr because its different. I would get another type r before a p68.

Thanks for the lesson..
silly as it may sound I was asking myself the same questions while on break from writing..
What I have decided it to use the type R spool in the PX68 and the finesse special spool in the Type R just due to cosmetic coordination.. I am not sure how they will perform. I got a type R red line guide and ccc from the tackle trap.. and I am looking for a red drag star for px68.

The PX68 and the PX68 SPR are two different models. The PX68 is a Type R minus the clicking drag and two bearings.
The Px68 SPR has a centrifugal breaking and is designed to cast small plugs
Re: Differences between PX Type R and PX68
I recently acquired the PX68. I only want to change out the drag star. I wish I could find a red drag star the same size as the pxtr drag star just in red.
I’m hoping to power fish with it.
