Abu Revo LT v Shimano Scorpion XT
Abu Revo LT v Shimano Scorpion XT
Looking hard at both of these reels ... Any experience with these reels, particularly side by side would be excellent. Application would be for 8-14lb mono or fluoro, jerkbaits (Pointer 78-100, Ima Flits 100-120s, Duo Realis 100), Topwater poppers (Iovino Splash Its, Yellow Magics), and small cranks such as bomber square a.

Don't know about the Abu but the scorpion 1001 xt is the real deal.

I have the LTZ and for ultralight baits it would smoke the scorpion. But for those lures the scorpion would be awesome plus you can always get a shallow spool later if you want.

lt has a "shallow spool" and the ltx has a "super shallow spool". correct me if im wrong? ltz comes with both
i think the lt will hold 100yards of 8lb line or .235 diamter.
if you run a 15lb braid you will have more than enough capacity.

Both amazing casters, but the Scorpion will hold up longer and have more options for tuning.

I would toss in a Daiwa Alphas/Sol too unless you want brand new only.
I use a Alphas Type F for my jerks/topwater and it's just so awesome.

The LT has the same shallow spool( I call it super shallow) as the LTZ, and LTX. The LTZ comes with a spare deeper spool that's still pretty shallow, but its all silver in color. Another reason to get the Scorpion is that the current body is going to be discontinued soon, so get em while you can.slicksouthpaw wrote:lt has a "shallow spool" and the ltx has a "super shallow spool". correct me if im wrong? ltz comes with both

Re: Abu Revo LT v Shimano Scorpion XT
From the specs I've always seen shows that the shallow spool on the ltz holds 50m of 8 lb. The deeper shiny spool that comes as a spare holds 100m of 8 lb. The LT And LTX both show a capacity of 100m of 8 lb. The black spool that comes with the LTZ looks more shallow than the LT spool. I've got a Chronarch 50e and an LTZ. I can't really say one is better than the other. I'm not really sure that there are more tuning options for the scorpion. I actually wouldn't be surprised if the opposite were true. You could always get both and sell the one you didn't like.Bootytrain wrote:The LT has the same shallow spool( I call it super shallow) as the LTZ, and LTX. Unless you're fishing a species that makes long runs, insignificant.
