Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Why Daiwa, Why ???
For this reason alone I will be buying a Alphas SV.
Like most, I would agree with the TD-Z platform, Zillions (SOOO PO'd I got the PE versions late in the game) and I too will probably end up getting the Alphas SV.
Definite nods to the Curado 100B and Scorpion 1000 as well.

Another one of Daiwa's bulletproof tanks.
I have three nice ones, great reels.

I have a bunch of TD-A's and still like them best for most of my fishing but I'm starting to really like the smaller Fuego's and TD-Z's now too. The HSTA has to be one of the best values that Daiwa ever produced!

Abu Garcia Suveran, probably the toughest spinning reel ever made. the drive train on this reel is sick.I've always regretted selling the one I used to own.

This was my first baitcaster and i still have two. Next to the zillion i would say these things are supper durable. I use mine for frogging and it could be a little faster i guess but dont believe i have ever lost a fish due to that. I dont think i will ever part with mine.

Never knew of those reels, thanks for the heads up. Here's an interesting article I found on them. Quite a bit of engineering effort went into them.

Very cool, I want one!
By the way, his reel reviews are extremely thorough, and amazingly detailed.

The only place I have seen them is on ebay, and they can sell for over $300 in new or great condition. The one gripe I had with the Suveran was the weight. It was around 12.7 ounces for a 2000 size reel.
