2014 JDM Daiwa Millionaire

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

2014 JDM Daiwa Millionaire

Post by JoeyBones » Wed Dec 31, 2014 6:49 am

First post!

Curious if anyone has handled one of the 2014 Daiwa Millionaire reels (saltwater jigging reel without any Magforce or Centriflex cast control).

It looks like Daiwa has ceased production of anything smaller than a 253 size class round casting reel (which is a bit big for the kind of bass fishing I typically do). I personally feel that the Millionaire/Luna 103 series reels are just about the perfect round reel for bass fishing, and I even prefer them over the Calcuttas I own.

My dream was that some intrepid TT member has procured one of these 2014 Millionaires in the 100 (maybe 200?) size, and successfully fitted a Magforce spool w/ inductor and Luna side plate w/ the external mag ring.

Anyone able to either make my day [-o< , or crush my hopes?

Regards,

Bones

I'm curious to hear as well, I saw it on eBay and almost ordered the 100 but decided to do some research on it first. I was crushed when I saw it was a jigging reel with no brakes... :crying:

You can still find them on the open market. They become to expensive to sell over here..... IMO

I haven't been able to find any new production 103 size millionaire platform reels since I bought my last Luna 103 a couple years back. Used ones do pop up for sale occasionally but if you're aware of a source please share! There's one seller online who has been selling a ton of new old stock Luna 103Ls but I need a righty...

Bones

Check out the Japanese auction sites, there are plenty lightly used Ringas that you can purchase for under $300

I would tend to agree with you... But was hoping someone had already tried/done it and could save me the time and $$$ experimenting.

Thanks all for the responses!
