Four-Way Handle???

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Four-Way Handle???

Post by Cagey » Mon Dec 29, 2014 10:37 am

I was browsing ebay looking at reels and found a reel with a four-way handle on it. I have never seen one before and did not even know they existed.

The auction page says they think it was an aftermarket handle made by Gator Grip, but I did a search on it and could not find any info on it.

Regardless, it seems to me the extra 2 handles would get in the way more than they would be of any real use? And I don't think I would be inclined to ever use something like this...

The auction ends on January 21, 2015 so it is still available...

Seems a little needless/over-done, no? ](*,)

A lot over done? I'm just not getting the reasoning behind this one. Is it just a sales gimmick of more is better type of thing?

Talk about a lot of extra weight and throwing a combo out of balance, this would be it.

Drugs were a lot cheaper and readily available on the streets in many forms back in the 70s/80s....or could be just bad weed before the designer went to the drawing board. Question is how this thing made it to production?

Apparently entire company levels were "partaking" back in "The Day"?

And what ever it is, it can be yours for $25!

I wouldn't buy this thing with your money!

I was just hoping someone might identify it! And if they do, now we know who had one!

Never had one, but did read somewhere that they were made by Gator Grip (Hog Handler) back in the day.

The knobs don't look horrible... well, they LOOK horrible... but they look pretty comfy and grippy too. Probably not removable though.

I was actually thinking of bright neon glow in the dark yellow.

This 4-way handle has given me a new idea for my competition "decorator" rod and reel handle for next year's fishing trip with some friends down in the keys. 12" in diameter and 16 knobs and 3 speeds or more is the game plan so far.

I've seen such a 4-way handle before. It was from the same company, which anodized CC51's in Black (and other colours?!?). Don't remember exactly the Company 's name. Maybe dress?

When I was coming from spinning reels, I felt the baitcasters over did it with an extra one.
