50MG

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

50MG

I have several and am contemplating replacing them with the newer technology. IF I did what would you recommend ? I have 1000XT's and that was my first thought. Looks like the 50e is a candidate as the other 50 platform reels.

Core 50MG would be a step up. Scorpion 1000XT is a very nice reel and would also be a small step up. The others are not an improvement IMO.

Chronarch 50MG is probably one of Shimano's best efforts. Most guys that have them usually hang on to them. I have three, one with Hedgehog Airs, and it is an outstanding light bait reel.

Well, I have 6; four of which are in my everyday line up and 2 BNIB. Maybe I will just fish them till the "wheels fall off". The so called new stuff is tempting though !

Those are great reels! I own four, and wish I had more!
I have at least three on deck at all times.

Chronarch 50mg offers legendary performance, its one of those reels from what I call the "glory days" of bass fishing, when baitcasting reels went from just ok to high performance instruments of precision...hold on to them :D

Ok folks they are going to stay put. Maybe I'll just start looking at all the rods I could match them with.

The Met '13 I found out performs the previous generations hands down, even the core50. Like capacity difference is minimal but the casting and retrieve experience has gone from great to magical.
