smoke baitcast reel for $99 at American legacy fishing

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

I was initially interested, but then saw a picture of the reel in which the line guide appears to be the smallest I've seen on a baitcaster. I'm sure the reel casts midweight lures, but after the T3 and Tatula, that tiny line guide doesn't appeal to me.

I'm not a Quantum fan, but I would give one a shot at that price if they offered the left handed model for $99.

I already own 2 Smoke reels, and I'm thrilled to find them at this price.
I bought another.
Thank you Hennessy!

Mine too. I can't believe how buttery smooth it is. Already cleaned spool bearings. :)

I've seen many mixed reviews on the smoke reels.
Some seem to be good. Others seem to be junk.
It seems the good and bad are about half and half.
At $99 is it worth taking a chance????

I'd say yes, based on my three years+ experience with my other smoke reels.

I spooled it up with 50# Stren Sonic Braid, and I put it on my 7' frog/flipping rod.
My reel's bearings looked a little dry, so I put a drop of Hot Sauce oil on each of the three spindle bearings, and one at each side of the level wind gear. It is smoooooth.

I made a mistake. I put on some mono first, and then my usual amount of braid.
But, casting a 7/8oz. top water, I outcast the braid and got into the backing.
The darn reel casts too well. Hahaha
