Duckett releasing reels this Classic show

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Duckett releasing reels this Classic show

Post by Afrayedknot » Sun Jan 19, 2014 5:58 am

Along with 13 fishing, and zombie, Duckett will try to join in on the casting reel market. Their reels will probably be released at the classic show. There are several pics up on Duckett's facebook page.

Here are a few:

They apparently will come with ceramic ball bearings, which might just be a gimmick. What I mean by that is that it will say "ceramic ball bearings" and the weekend warriors will go nuts, but in reality, they might just be abec 1 and have horrible tolerances. =;

I personally am not too excited for these reels because they are probably just another build off of Pure Fishings other reels. I don't think that these reels will even compete with the tatula or curado I, which will be the kings of the $150-$200 market. 8-)

Tell me what you think.

They look kind of like the Okuma's to me, just like some of the other new reels that are being released. Not a fan of the white either. I understand it's to match the rods, but the rods are butt ugly too.

Another pic of the new reel, but what I want to know is what is the orange rod in the back corner.

Giant bulge on the Sideplate looks like a Quantum, color scheme reminds me of one to. Other than that, not sure what to make of this but wont be buying one I wouldn't think.
Didn't duckett make a red rod in the past, or still do? That may be it, looks red towards the bottom of the rod. Top does look orange though.

Yes they did, they are called Duckett laser lure crankin rods. Basically, a micro magic painted red with a moderated action.

Hmmmm the handles are different on the two sets of pics. Also, the knobs in one pic are quantum shaped and revo shaped in another. It looks like he literally just switched handles and is deciding which one he wants lol

Drag Star and Cast Control Cap are different as well. Maybe the second reel is their "TypeR".
