Core 50/100 questions
Core 50/100 questions
I've been debating which one I should get. At first I was thinking the 50 size because its lighter and the line capacity isn't too big a difference and the added bearings in the handle but I read on another forum that the 100 would be better for larger baits because of a brass main gear.I'm going to be throwing things from 1/4 oz to maybe 2 oz max. Would the 100 size be more versatile or is the 50 just as capable with mid/high resistance baits?
Just to be clear, the 2 oz lures are lipless pointer so they aren't high resistance like say a spinnerbait.
Any input helps!

Re: Core 50/100 questions
If you're going to be throwing heavier baits the 100 would be a much better buy.
I think the 50 would be great for lighter lures though.

Having both, my vote goes for the 100mg.

100mg7 has brass gears and you don't Want a 50 for 2 oz baits but a 100mg7 can cast lighter baits
Re: Core 50/100 questions
I have the 101 and wouldn't use it with 2 oz baits. Otherwise, one amazing casting reel. I have the brass 7:1 D7 gears so should be similar to the new 100.

x3 on the 101/100 being a better overall performer than the 50/51.5poundhooker wrote:thukidad wrote:Having both, my vote goes for the 100mg.

There's just something about it--even with lighter weights mine beats my two 51's with ease.
But if you're staying over 1/4 ounce and going as high as 2 oz--you're right in the wheelhouse of the highly refined Zillion. That's the reel I would recommend for that that broad scope of lure weights. I wouldn't throw anything over 3/4 ounce on my Core's just doesn't feel right. I usually don't throw anything over 1/2 ounce jigs with it.

Thanks for the insight guys. I will be going with the 100 and a lexa 300.

Aha no! That would be a bad idea!
