It's a shade higher retail, but I paid $135ish for mine; the Stradic FJ. Smooth, powerful, and quite refined for the money.

Either the Lew's Tournament Pro Speed Spool, or Abu Revo Premier Gen 2, which both can be had for the $150 range each if you look in the right places.
Even better (if you keep your eye open!) is for $150, you can grab "2" of the discontinued BPS Carbonlite reels (gold colored ones)!
But, I've seen these start going up in price on Ebay lately.

For overall workhorse applications, in a very strong, capable and durable platform, I would choose the HSTA as well.Gabriel wrote:HSTA 153 for sure.

Chronarch 50E for me.
It is $199 but can be around $150 when on sale.

I will 3rd that suggestion. Bullet proof, casts like a champ, almost Zillion smoothness at a fraction of the cost.dragon1 wrote:For overall workhorse applications, in a very strong, capable and durable platform, I would choose the HSTA as well.Gabriel wrote:HSTA 153 for sure.

Re: Favorite 120-150 dollar reel?
I assume you mean "new" prices. For me that would have to be my Fuegos which I purchased on closeout in the price range listed. My Curado 51E was less than $100 new and is currently my favorite reel for throwing light baits.
Now if you want to include used prices, then I can add several other reels to the mix. However, I can't really point to 'one' as being my favorite. I am very partial to my Fuegos, but the Lews Tournament Pro ain't bad either. My Patriarch XT was purchased used (looks like new) for $5.00 over your price, but is another reel that is a joy to use and gives me pleasure to look at. My upgraded Sol was also $5.00 over your price limit (and also looks like new). I have a feeling this reel will also become one of my 'must use' reels, but I won't be able to use it for another couple months.
Whenever I head to Florida for a visit, my STX always makes the trip with me. The high drag pressure makes it my favorite reel for fishing in the slop. It also casts very well.
The more I think about it the harder it becomes to pick just one reel.

Think if you take into consideration ALL the above reels are excellent. Its only personal preference and you wont be disappointed
with either. Get on the Lexa Team they are unreal and unlike all the past Daiwa's they are really well priced, my pic is also the Lews (the company is smaller but the products are awesome) I can see the Lews reels getting more and more expensive as they become more popular. ( where else can you get a quality 10BB reel for under $150 ), either way you will be stoked with all the above mentioned.

Re: Favorite 120-150 dollar reel?
in the TT way ....... "they make reels that sell for that little?"
if you are talking "new" prices, i'd probably look at the lew's (though i don't have one)
if you open it up, i'd take an e series curado (at the prices you can find them today)

I agree with the SOL or Fuego. I just picked up a Fuego off ebay for $95.Buck2thPerch wrote:I would take this route.Finnz922 wrote:You can buy a mint/excellent/very good condition Sol or Fuego which IMO our better than all that are on the market right now.
Otherwise, its a toss up between a Citica E or the Lexa 100. I plan to add a few of the Lexa 100p for cranking as well.
Give the new Bass Pro Johnny Morris Carbon Lite a look. I have 2 and I'm happy with performance. The JM signature rod is a really nice rod for the money also.
