What is the Verdict?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

What is the Verdict?

Shimano Sustain 3000 new vs. old, which one do you prefer?
Are there any notice performance differences? I wish the peg leg for the new could fit the old but it doesn't.

new Sustain is sweet. It has an increased resistance to rotor rotation when the bail is open, so if you're a handle turner(which I hope you aren't) you may not like the new model. Also they changed the drag curve -- they call it Rapid Fire Drag...I imagine the thread on the spool post is just cut at a steeper angle. More drag change with fewer 'clicks'. The post is a cool feature if you fish SW and use vertical rod holders, or lay your reel/rods down on the ground a lot. Oh and....X-Ship
