My wife found new Curado D's

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

My wife found new Curado D's

Post by Kurt L » Sat Aug 18, 2012 10:44 pm

While Salmon fishing this morning I was not real happy with my Curado E201 and wondering what reel would handle salmon a little better? My E gets very rough when under a load, I tried a new set of gears but no change,Carbontex drag & Boca 7's no change. Well my wife and walked into a local outdoors clearance store and my wife say's hey they have Curados over there so I take a look and they have 200D's, 201D's & 300D's $139.00! I tried the 201's and both were smooth as butter and they both came home with me! My wife does not even know what a Curado is but somehow it clicked when she saw them! Hopefully they won't flex like my E does.
What are new D's worth did I do ok?

The D will handle the load no problem they are tanks. I use mine for punching and frog fishing.

If I were u I would have bought more tge a couple, and sold sum here on TT. I'm sure members would buy up the 300 series for their swimbaiting needs.

As I recalled they retailed for $199. They have gained in popularity since their discontinuation (I have a 100D which is an outstanding performer). At $139 for a NIB is an excellent deal (IMO).

$139 NIB is awesome for that reel. I love mine, use the 201DPV for cranking. You should be able to get near $200 out of the 300's on here or BBC. The 200 sizes go for $140-$180 used from what I've seen.

Yep they have at least one 200 and one 300, I will try and get back there tomorrow to see how many they have, when I saw the 201's my mind went blank and my Visa started to melt. I'm in Alaska and most people here don't pay any attention if the reel is not round :big grin: works for me. I walked into Sports Authority last month and they had Stradics on close out, sizes 2500-6000, 50% off, I bought 3 for me and 2 for my buddie in CA.
