Need new froggin' reel recommendations
Need new froggin' reel recommendations
Blew up my frog reel last night (it was time for a new one anyhow LOL).
Requirements:
- LH retreive
- 7.0:1 or faster
- Durable/quality
- Under $175 CAD if possible.
I'm thinking of going with a Curado 201G7 as the 201E7 isn't readily available anymore, and I need this ASAP to finish tournament season. The price is right ($165 CAD) and I love my 201E7 on a pitching stick (used it for frogs last year and it was great, too). Opinions?
Thanks!

Anyone have opinions on the Okuma Citrix reel? Ci-273VLX.
Re: Need new froggin' reel recommendations
For that price I'd suggest maybe the Premier.? I know you can find them online for very close to that price. The STX wouldn't be a bad option either.. Think this is the first time I've recommended an Abu, but the new Chronarch 200 wouldn't be a bad choice either in that price range.

I picked up a chronarch 200E7 for 150 on sale so I'm sure you can pic 1 up in your price range

x2. I like Daiwas, but the Chronarch is a very nice reel in the price range.fishingandfords wrote:I picked up a chronarch 200E7 for 150 on sale so I'm sure you can pic 1 up in your price range

I took off the daiwa to put in place curado. as it was heavier and a tad larger to palm gave my finger blisters. As my hands arent that big. Found it just more comfortable not only size but weight help out a hit. Found better hook up as a indirect results due to better palming too.
Now using daiwa for punching.
Thts jst me.

Daiwa Lexa 100 may work...in your budget range and also comes in 7.1:1.
Unfortunately it won't be here on time for your tourney.

Re: Need new froggin' reel recommendations
I needed something ASAP so I went ahead and got a $60 Daiwa Exceler. It seems fine - launches frogs a mile, held up to a few good sized pike in the lilypads already, and it was readily available in a hurry. Even if it doesn't last too long, it was only $60 and fills an immediate need.
Good enough, for now...

Glad it worked out.
