New Revos

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Looks like they are unchanged for now. Last season they revamped the max series and this season the revo's. Maybe next season?

Probably considerably less pressure on Abu to upgrade them - they're already Cadillac reels in their segment - and, frankly, the only ones. Captive market niche product = less need to innovate further.

That said, I'm sure you'll get a few minor tweaks next year, just to cause a sales bump.

I just hope they improved the level winds on the "S". I have had to replace more worm gears and pawls on the Revo S than any reel I have ever worked on. That's a shame because I always really liked the performance and palm ability of the Revo S.

They're in direct competition with the Curado 300 and new Daiwa Lexa 300 sized reel. The Shimano has not been upgraded since the E series and the Lexa has yet to be tested. I'm sure if needed Abu will revamp the Toros to compete, but like you said, they are the cadillac of their market. I love mine.

Saltwater toughened Toro coming out, with a line of Inshore/Musky rods based off the Veritas line as well.

Everytime I start digging around Abu's site, I find something else I didn't see before. Looks like they're not waiting for iCast to put all their stuff out there.

Do you guys think they fixed the kicklever issue in this series?

The issue was fixed after the first production run of Toros. If the Toro has the production run 18 00 stamped in the foot and on the schematics it has the bad kick ever. The 18 01 and 18 02 are revised with replacements. You can order the new lever and replace the old one as well.

Anyone know if the Revo LT or any variant of it will be hitting our shores?

Is this the same with the other Revos as well? I mean, if the suffix 01 or 02 are stamped on their foot does it mean that they already have the new kick lever?

If I were an Abu fan I'd be pretty jacked about the SX. It looks pretty killer IMO. Is it just me, or did the bulge get bigger? Looks like the non handle side plate has a little extra fat on it from the previous model. Not quite Quantum fat, but I would need to hold one 1st, especially after using Shimanos for some time now. Why would you pre order a reel you can't have till September? That would kill me ](*,)
