anyone try Penn baitcasting reels?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Who new, but at this weight with just 6 bearings and @ the highly competitive market price of $200, hard sell if you ask me.

I have seen those before. To me, they look like a Revo, a Pflueger, a Lews, and a BPS reel spent some time together alone in a room and this was the result. Probably good reels, but like the previous post mentioned, that price point is tough.

Considering Penn is owned by pure fishing, who also owns Abu and Pfleuger, and considering Pfleuger is made at the same factory as BPS...the similarities between them all are not suprising. Anyway, I've seen them and they seem like decent reels, but just don't sell alot, again because of the highly contested price point. Most die hard Penn fans don't use low pro reels, either.

Other than having HT100 drags I don't see any reason to get excited about them, especially at that price point.
For 200 bucks you gotta have something significant goin' on. I don't see it.
