steez 100 info?
I am looking at getting a steez and was wondering if you steez guys could help me out. I have decided on the 100 but there are several different models.H,HA,HL,HLA,SHA I want a 6.3:1 with the 90mm handle. Do all the models cast the same? Could someone explain the difference and tell me which model they would go with?
Re: steez 100 info?
if there's an L, it's a lefty. SHA is 7.1:1 retrieve. 100H and 100HL are JDM...... and 100HA and 100HLA are USDM.
They should all come w/ the longer handle and 100 size spools are mag Z.

thanks, I guess I should have done a little more research.
Would the 100 make a pretty good reel for larger spinnerbaits?

Re: steez 100 info?
IMO it felt a little over powered w/ large spinnerbaits but worked good for 1/4-3/8 willow blades. I found it worked best for me w/ midsize T-rigs/plastics/tubes w/ weights from 1/4-3/8.

Man I thought I had it figured out. I was thinking the 6.3:1 gears with the 90mm handle would be ideal for larger spinnerbaits.

Re: steez 100 info?
I had a 100HA that I had purchased for spinnerbaits before and could never really get it dialed in to get good casts, so I sold it and went back to my trusty 100M It could have just been my casting style though On paper the 100HA should be a great spinnerbait reel.
Re: steez 100 info?
I prefer a more "solid" "workhorse" type of reel for moving baits...Something with the feel of a Chronarch D or Calais. I know they are heavier, but have a more powerful feel (to me). Just so you know I'm not biased, I just picked up my first Daiwas in 15 years last week. A Steez 103 SHA and a Steez 100 SHA...for pitching and casting bottom baits...I think the Mg reel of any brand have a "hollow feel" that I dont like with a big blade.
Re: steez 100 info?
I rarely cast blades, but as an alternate point of reference, consistently cast up to 1-1.5 oz swimbaits with a Steez 100. After three years of that type of use, the reel is just as smooth as the day I purchased it. Actually, smoother after cleaning, polishing and Super Lube

that's what I thought as well. Like Blackjack I sold mine and went back to the TDZ.georgeweeber wrote:Man I thought I had it figured out. I was thinking the 6.3:1 gears with the 90mm handle would be ideal for larger spinnerbaits.

well I guess I will just try to find one of the old skeet reese revos. Thats what I have now and it seems to work fairly well. I like many of you am always looking for something better. Thanks for the input.
Re: steez 100 info?
I agree on the "solid workhorse" feel of a reel for chunkin and winding. My zillions are used for spinnerbaits and cranks and topwater. My TD-Z's and steez's are used for plastics and jigs and small finesse type baits. The MG-ollow feel is exactly what I think does not feel like something that I want to 2 hand and chunk and wind with.steve1206 wrote:I prefer a more "solid" "workhorse" type of reel for moving baits...Something with the feel of a Chronarch D or Calais. Re: steez 100 info?
Although most MG reels have a slightly "hollow" feel...the 100M or 103M has more than enough power for spinnerbaits up to about 1oz, granted that you aren't fishing over-sized Colorado/Indiana/Tortoise shell blades. The Daiwa BBS is IMO, the most powerful feeling/cranking MG LP reel I have personally ever used and owned for power tech/chunk and wind type presentations.

Totally agree on the BBS---totally different animal and if I remember---was told that had the zillion internals--beefed up like the 50th. Its my swimbait reel.
