Calcutta CTE 100GT?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Calcutta CTE 100GT?

Post by jrk » Mon Mar 21, 2011 11:52 am

So, I called up Tacklewarehouse to order one of these...have fallen in love with the 200...and the guy tells me these are discontinued. I called Shimano, and yes, they've been discontinued. Shimano informs me that although they are not sure what will happen, usually they replace a discontinuation with something more up to date. So, I need a crystal ball. Do I grab one that Shimano has left, or wait until ICAST to see if they have something more up to date? I'm not in a hurry per say, but I wonder what they could improve upon?

I'm somewhat familiar with the Conquest, but what does "upgraded" mean? Have they modified this in anyway?

The answer is simple. You grab one now, then buy the new one when it comes out.

When BPS had these on clearance a couple of autumns ago, I should've grab a few instead of just one. NIB TE GTs, including the 100 and 200 sizes for $170!

Get one if you can as they are excellent reels for lots of power tech purposes.

If you really wanted the reel I would suggest you buy one while you can find it. You may even be able to catch a good deal on one as retailers are trying to clear out their inventory.

If something much better comes along that you want it shouldn't be that hard to sell and buy the new reel. On the other hand, if you wait and nothing (or nothing worthwhile) is introduced you may have an even harder time tracking down what you originally wanted.
