ICast 2011 rumors

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

The Helios will weigh 6.3 ounces and the Komodo will be 6.5 with 10BB+1RB!! :big grin: Check out the Citrix travel rods and the new C3x rods. The new EVX 7'5" mh and h are sweet rods.

The Komodo, Cedros, Citrix and Krios will all come with left hand retrieve (isn't this the devils hand  as my grandma would say) only Serrano and Helios don’t come in left hand retrieve.

Could that be the Revo LTX? The pics I've seen of it appeared shiny.
I just rewatched this time pausing it, it's a new version of a Premier as far as I can tell. I can make out "Premier" where it normally is on a Revo's handle plate, but there's something behind it I can't make out, along with it being shiny silver like the Premier spinning reel stem. Plus it has regular Revo knobs, not EVA knobs as well & the handle didn't look curved either.
I think I just watched the same episode last night myself. Is this the one you saw? It looks different then the regular Premier, but the black almost looks like it was put on with a Sharpie.

Yeah, that's what I saw & it's definitely not the regular Premier. It does look kind of like a blurry blob in that pic & in most of the shot, but when I was frame by framing it on my 42" Plasma it kind of looked like 2 letters in one of the clearer shots, although not clear enough to make out. I'll be shocked if this isn't revealed at iCast.

For the above picture of the revo, I think it almost looks like it is a mirror finish (like the Nano coating on the Premier spinning reel) and the "black" part is from a reflection. As far as Quantum's new mystery reel...I wonder if they have done something with the line guide....not a T-Wing but maybe something similar????? Just my imagination running.

Daiwa has plans for the high end products and the mid-range products this year. I work at a small tackle shop and we had our daiwa rep bring some of the new toys to show us. He brought the proto types that will be featured at Icast. For high-end, they have the Pixy, which will be around $600 and a similar model (I believe it was the T3), without the cork handles and some other features, for $400. At the mid-range, they will have the Ballistic line of rods and reels. The rods will be close to $150 and the reels will be $200-$250. They are a mostly red rod and reel, with black accents on them. The rods will be Daiwa's first technique specific line, with specific rods for different applications. At the low-end, they are revamping their under $30 combo's. Hope this helps, I held all of these prototypes and I am especially impressed with the Ballistic rods so far.

That is as much as I can say for now and something for you guys to chew on.
Well, if the T3 falls into that price range, I'll certainly give it a hard look. Interesting concept with some nice features (I like the handle, and the 3 cast modes switch). At $400 + I'd pass on it for sure.

I'd have to play with the pop up hood in store for a while. Appears to be on as rocker. Thumb-bar raises the hood and you manually click the hood back into place with the thumb of your opposing hand. Seems reasonable to me.

Eliminates the internal gadgetry of the handle being used to drop the hood. Also thinking this may be a bit better for pitching and casting to re-engage the spool quicker (like flipping the thumb-bar into the up position on existing Daiwa reels).

If it's @ a $200 price point, I'll give this one some serious consideration. :-k

The rep told me that the T3 that he showed me would be in the $400 range, and the Ballistic would be in the $200-$250. The Ballistic also has a rod that will be around $150, similar to the Smoke rod/reel combo. I asked him about micro guides and he said they had no plans of coming out with those on any rods this year.

edit* the T3 and Ballistic are the same reel... The I had the T3 mixed up with their new $400 reel coming out. The rep had a name for it, but I forgot. He did confirm the pixy at the $600 to $650 range and the T3 Ballistic at $250 (to compete with the Smoke). All 3 models will feature their new line guide system.
