Is it Daiwa, Shimano, or someone else?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Daiwa!!!!
I'm 37 years old and remember my first Daiwa like it was yesterday. I was 12 when I saved up enough money to buy a PT33SH. I've owned almost every major brand at one time or another, but my hearts always been with Daiwa.

1- Daiwa
2- Daiwa 2.0 aka Megabass
3- Shimano

Everything else without exceptions isn't important. =P~

I used to be a hardcore daiwa fanboy but after opening up my brother's 13 Met. I am seriously considering switching. I still love the connected feel of my daiwas but shimano's engineering for their reels is extremely impressive.

My first post, been reading TT for a while, but just joined.....this place is addicting... 8-)

Well I voted Shimano but have different preferences depending on the type fishing I have been doing for the last 43 years......I fish Salt & Freshwater in Texas...

-Low Profile for Bass/Bay Fishing Red, Specks and Flounder: Shimano
-Lighter Spinning Reels Bass/Bay Fishing: Shimano
-Heavy Jetty Bay Fishing Black Drum/Bull Reds: ABU Garcia Sweden made round reels only, new china versions are junk
-Freshwater landlocked Striped Bass Fishing: ABU Garcia Sweden made round reels for bait fishing/low profile Shimano for pitching plastics and top water
-Offshore Saltwater: Penn USA made reels only, new china versions are junk and don't last in this environment
