Curado E50 for jerkbaits?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Curado E50 for jerkbaits?

Post by Shimano-Or-Nothing » Mon Feb 28, 2011 7:41 am

I recently started getting into jerkbait fishing and have had great results. I'm wanting to get a combo I can set aside for jerkbait fishing only. I think a Curado E50 mounted on a G. Loomis JBR813C would be a great match for fishing 110's and Squadminnows. Does anyone have any positive or negative feedback as far as using an E50 for jerkbaits?

I have a Curado 50 paired with a powell topwater rod for jerkbaits and I love it...never had a problem with it.

The loomis is a good rod for what you want to do. If the 50 feels good to you "on the rod" then just do it. Some times reels just do not feel right when you put them on a rod.

I am using a curado 50 for jerkbaits right now. It has been a great little reel for them so far. The loomis rod paired with the 50 sounds like a great combo.

I have one of my Curado 51Es dedicated to topwater and jerkbait fishing. I really like it for these presentations because it is light weight and very easy for me to palm.

I see no issues with that combo.

Thanks for all the input. Right now I'm using a Caenan on a 7ft med Compre, so this should be a major upgrade.

The size and weight of the Curado 50E reel makes for a great anything stickbait reel. I'm gonna use mine for some walleye and crappie fishing this spring season.

That's exactly why I asked for one, and now that I have it...I haven't had a chance to fish it yet :( Hopefully I'll get a chance soon to go fishing and test out my theory ;)
