Falcon Volt

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Falcon Volt

Post by radray » Sun Feb 27, 2011 12:19 am

Hi! Has anyone here have any experience with the Falcon Volt. I am in the market for a new spinning reel and the specs on this seems nice on paper and the price is nice as well. I would like some input from other members about this reel. Thank you.

I wouldn't spend my money on a company's first production reel, get a Shimano Sahara instead for the same price.

I looked at these at the '11 classic expo, seemed like a solid reel and people were buying them. For 80 bucks it's got a lot of features. If it's anything like their rods it should be great.

Heavy Action,

How did the reel look in person? Is the build quality there?

Thanks.

Do you guys think the Volt and the Quantum spinning reel look very similar? I heard they are from the same factory.

and both companies are located in Oklahoma :-k

I was impressed for sure especially for a first production run. Very solid build, nice thick wire on the bail, comfortable grip and a smooth drag. But, I don't think I will be replacing my stradics with them.

I'd bet the factories that build the reels aren't in Okie land..... :)

I ended up getting the Stradic FI. The Falcon Volt was very impressive at that price range and if my funds were limited to less than $100, I would have jumped all over it, but fortunately I had enough for my first choice which was the Stradic.
