Looks like they are 8+1 on japan tackleDirtyD64 wrote:Maybe in for a Bass Master Classic release?
Also, I just realized it is short a bearing from the Chronarch MGL. Please tell me its a mistake or they just don't have handle bearings or something. I really like the thought of a dual supported pinion, dual supported spool, and dual supported main shaft with a roller bearing. The Curado K and Chronarch MGL/Metanium MGL all have bearings at these key points.
Where would the Bantam MGL lose one?

Re: Shimano Bantam MGL???
I figure it is 9 bearing system. Would make no sense to change all premium Shimano reels to dual main shaft and dual pinion, the remove a bearing from a possible amazingly selling reel. I am in if it's 9 bearing and probably even if they did remove one.

Looks to be so - have spotted that Tuffram coated aluminium shaft on a few occasions now in peoples vids - even still shot it on the big TV.LgMouthGambler wrote:So far, Im liking what I see. Please, please, please let it have a metal wormshaft and pawl.

I am very excited about this reel too...I was a Shimano only guy for many, many years, and within the last few years, starting using Daiwa. This reel really has me intrigued...I have tanks of reels (Calcutta TE, Calais, Chronarch SF, etc.) that exhibit true quality for the price. If this is as good as it seems, then Shimano truly hit the mark. Maybe they want it to stand out as top tiered and innovative as the Bantam 100 was in 1978!

This one has me very interested too, after 30 years of Shimano I have wandered over to Daiwa just like others but I think one of these XG Lefty's will be coming home with me! It has potential to be a killer light Salmon and Steelhead reel.
