Silver Widow rod

Post by 1Angler » Tue Apr 16, 2024 1:12 pm

Hello anyone got any review on the SWS SJR 732-1S silver widow rod? This rod have the same spec like the Nrx 872. How do this compare to the 872 if anyone experience both. The silver widow power is light while the 872 is medium. Is the silver widow worth buying for around mid 300?

Any rod with an X-ray blank is worth $300 IMO (and holds up to an NRX), but that's a personal blanket statement. I don't know the specific rod you mention.

Tempting to pick it up. Will be my first edge and xray rod. I am usually a megabass and loomis person. Thanks for the respond. Hopefully someone here have insight on the rod I'm looking at.

For what it’s worth, I’ve found the Loomis 3 power matches up to the NFC 5 power, in the MBR series. So the Loomis MBR 843 is similar to the NFC MBR 705.

Do all the silver widow rods use X Ray blanks? Will we see an Edge rod that uses the Epitome blank any time soon?

Yes, all Silver Widows use the xray blank.
And also yes, Edge are making rods using the C6O2/Epitome blanks. So far they have a couple surf rods, a 725 MBR casting and spinning, 764 SJR spinning and casting and a 703 SJR spinning.

Very unfortunate they don't build anything shorter than 7'3.

Ageeed, I've moved back to shorter rods. Most of mine are 7' or less now.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

My 705 IM blank edge rods seem like a Loomis 3.5 power to me, and aren't as quite as fast as the glx 843.
