I thought Shimano would trickle down their Ci4/cork foregrips from the Glorious, but instead they doubled down on the metal locknut + no foregrip for spinning models...looks even more uncomfortable than the current spinning handles.

They need a reason for people to pay PA or PU money.

My pants just got a little tighter. Love JDM Shimano blanks. The open ended butt end is a little strange. Perfect for spiders and other little bugs I suppose. Radical taper 🤔. Is their new name for solid tip? Multi taper / power rods have peaked my interest.

Yep that's whack. For that reason alone, I will not be getting an Adrena spinning rod.

I do think I'm going to get the 166ml-2. Not feeling the orange but I want to try these and I do not need any more new rods to fill any voids. It will replace my prior gen 166ml-2. Excellent 110/110jr rod.

Not a fan of the locking nut on the current one or this one. It loosens just looking at it on the spinning model.

You have to remember its a translation program so the translation isn't always perfect.

Welp, I said I wouldn't do it and then one showed up at my door this afternoon. Picked up the 268ul/2. Feels nice. That metal locknut is not an issue for how I hold the rod though I had some concern. This rod is equipped with "excite top". Super easy to generate that shaking motion. I'll be using for light hover strolling 3" baits and crappie fishing. Hhave it rigged up for crappie at the moment and hope to get on the water with it tomorrow evening after work. An interesting note, since it's two piece and the butt end is open, you can see straight through the lower section of the blank.

How have you liked the rod so far?
I'm interested in that one and the 6'10 ul/ml model.
I have the old US model 6'10 ul/m and really like it.
I'm also curious to see what US models will come out.

JDM price on the new PA is about the same as prior generation if I remember correctly. given everything price is going up these days I myself would not expect much improvement of these new PA rods vs last gen.

doesn't look better either... :laugh1:

Haven't gotten much on the water time with it but I like it. The model I got is so niche that I'm not sure any thought I could give would be relative to the rest of the line-up. It's pretty crisp even though it has the excite top. I thought maybe excite top would make the recovery springy on the cast but it's not bad at all. I've dragged a Keitech mono spin jig and small trailer and the sensitivity was good. Casts extremely smooth with the x-guide. I wasn't sure if that was some gimmick but it does feel smooth with the tightly coiled line coming off a Vanquish with the infinity loop. It's excellent for hover strolling small total weight rigs. I've thrown small heads and 3" plastics so far. My recent fishing trips have been short pond outings for crappie here in northern Illinois. They eat the hover strolled baits but it's also great for twitching and reeling a jig and float.

I have the previous gen 166ml-2, the only model I have from that generation, and I was looking to upgrade to the 2024 166ml-2 and have looked over the specs. It appears to be the same weight, 87g, iirc. Maybe the taper has slowed down as now it's listed as regular vs RF for the 2018 model. Might still grab it to replace the prior generation and that would offer a better comparison. Also, it's not as orange in person, I'd say it's closer to copper.

JLS has 6 models in stock (at JLS bargain pricing). 4 are 2 piece it looks like. That 6-4"MH might make a sweet magnum squarebill/TW rod. Sounds like I'm trying to talk myself into one, lol.
