NRX + Inshore casting

Post by PBP » Thu Dec 21, 2023 2:24 pm

Anyone tried these rods? They look very interesting, split rip, full SIC. Inshore 841, 871 models power are not available in fresh water series. These seem to me would be great light fresh water rods as well.

Perhaps somebody knows if the blanks 842 are the same as freshwater series?

I just got the 841c today and put the Aldebaren on it, weighs 7.8oz! Tied on a Z Man 1/15 oz jig with a finesse TRD and couldn't believe haw far it casts and how good it felt. It was cold and had ice accumulting on guides but managed to catch 1 small bass. This might be the ultimate BFS combo I can't wait to fish more with it and try other baits. And compared to my NRX plus 842c MBR it feels right in line with what I would consider a 1 power rod

What about the guides size, are they bigger than what you would normally see on the freshwater series? I read somewhere this was the case in a past, the inshore spinning had larger guides compared to the freshwater.
Thank you.

If I'm inferring correctly, the rod weighs about 3.2 oz?

They are all SIC right? No recoil?

In saltwater almost everyone goes braid to leader, so I can't imagine that they would put recoil guides on these.

Does anyone know how the 842 compares the the 842 MBR version in action?

From the way the 841c feels I think 842mbr and 842 inshore are the same blank, but if you want to know for sure give Loomis a call
