I'm all about the old school loop hook keeper like on the NRX+ down at the bottom of the handle. I haven't had any issues of it snagging my line while pitching, and it doesn't get wrapped or caught up like the ones that are above the lock nut.

On my custom rods, I have a dropshot style hook keeper put on the bottom of the blank, about 2" above the front of the reel seat and it has never snagged my line. I ended up with a hook in my forearm from a hook keeper down at the butt and also a hook in my hand once, so I avoid those like the plague now.

if I can find some O-rings that last longer than a few months I'd take Daiwa's version. You can put the point of the hook in the loop or the bend of the hook in the bottom part. Also can just hook a DS weight easily without putting the actual hook on the keeper. I think part of the problem is storing my rods in the hot n humid rod lockers and staying on deck for 8hr tournaments that kills the O-rings. Went to hardware stores to buy O-rings and those didn't last even as long.

How ironic
I just had a JDM lure come back and smack me. I went to pull it off my pants and it was in my leg just below the knee
I couldn’t pull my pants all the way down but was able to get them enough to cut the hook. There was still 1-1.5 inches hanging out of me. I tried to mentally pull it out with pliers but in that moment I realized I’m not that tough. Long story short went to the ER on base and they had nothing but comedic relief. The whole team

Anyways after multiple shots and these antibiotics I’m still fishing. It was a JDM lure with super sharp hooks and the barb was way deep in my leg.

Oh and the numbed the area around the hook with yet another needle. They tried to get it out but the forceps kept slipping because the hook would twist so much so I started reaching for anything I could grab to help pull while they pushed.
Worst day imaginable

Oh but it gets worse. It was the new generation of staff and initially they suggested I recorded the removal

I Comb-Okie Redneck-Rig my hook hangers with braid and medium sized split rings...anywhere on my rod that I want.

The Fuji EZ is nice, but not the end all be all.

Fuji MHKM or the small American Tackle, both allow securing Texas rigged plastics without having to expose the hook point. If the point is exposed, I just use the reel or first guide.

I thought the keeper Kistler used on their circa 2021 rods (pre-blank changes) was really good. Worked for dropshots, jig hooks and t-rigged baits. Then they abandoned it, so maybe I’m the only one who liked it.
