Closest match to Steez 7'6" MML
Closest match to Steez 7'6" MML
Does anyone have a recommendation for a rod that is close to the same action of either generation of the Steez 7'6" MML...SANS the AGS guides.
I'd like the rod to be fairly sensitive, and a slightly slower tip is okay as well so long as it is crisp in action as I'll be using braid +leader for topwaters in the 3/8-5/8 range along with 3/8-1/2 oz lipless and cranks. I'd like for it to be fairly light and sensitive as well.
Thanks in advance.

Tatula 7-6ML/M is really good. So is 7'-4" 2 piece Rebellion. I have yet to find a 7'6 rod that feels like Daiwa's offerings. No one makes one as light and versatile. Been through a lot of 7-6 rods. The new St. Croix Walleye 7-6 ML XF is also good. I have one I'm listing for sale. The new version is very nice.

I have no experience with your said Tatula Rod, so if the action matches your preference is up to you to determine… but maybe it’s an option: the Graphiteleader / Olympic Silverado line of rods. I’ve got the 2023 7’6 ML spinning and it’s ridiculously light, crisp and sensitive. You get full Torzite guide train and T1100 Toray for little money over there in Japan. The Silverado Prototype line has a little more backbone I’ve been told.
Probably the M would be better suited for your lure range, depending on your preferences in feeling.
Here’s my rods deflection:

What would you say is the top end casting weight on your 76ML Silverado? I'm looking at the baitcasting model with great interest.

Also, what is a source for procuring one of the Graphiteleader Silverado rods?

I ordered mine from Japanese Yahoo Shopping via Zenmarket.com. It’s a shopping + international shipping service and you can request pictures once they receive the rods to make sure there’s no damage.
I have not checked the upper limit yet, but only tried a carolina rig with a 1/4oz bullet + 3“ OSP shrimp (so close to 3/8oz total) which felt very good, the sweet spot for slow bottom presentations might even be a little higher.
While you can throw the stated lower limit of 3g I don’t quite see that happening for working a lure in weight class.
Too stiff for my taste. An Adrena BFS for example has a significantly softer tip.

The baitcasting 76ML is rated 3 grams higher too. I'm looking for a 7'6 casting rod to do some saltwater jigging, total payloads 1/2 - 5/8oz with 12lb fluoro leader...this might fit the bill though from that deflection photo it does seem like a very fast taper. I would say the Steez 76MLM will load much deeper into the blank pulling against similar weights.dennis_rf wrote: ↑Fri Aug 04, 2023 4:24 pmI ordered mine from Japanese Yahoo Shopping via Zenmarket.com.
