Preferred Wacky Rig Setup? NRX/Megabass
What's your preferred weightless senko setup? Are you throwing on casting or spinning setup? I have always used an NRX Spinning setup...but thinking about switching to casting. Thoughts?

Re: Preferred Wacky Rig Setup?
I use four versions of Senkos (smallmouth). 3” Slim, 3” Fat. 3” Ned and 4”. Spin(s) for me. I won’t go too far into the weeds as you’re likely referring to 5”.

If I’m around cover, I like NRX 893. For open water, I like Steez 7’6” MML, blue version.

I use the Daiwa 7'6" MML Steez spinner. I am thinking of trying the new Epitome with an Aldebaron for this duty along with Neko rigs. I generally use the same weedless hook on a rod and switch between wacky and neko depending on grass/cover.

Old steez skyray 6'8" ml casting rod. I'll throw up to a 5" senko and down to a 1/16 oz flick shake and skinny non salt impregnated 4.8 inch worm. Mostly skipping and casting to docks.

I don't have any NRX or Megabass rods, but if I'm throwing a wacky rigged 5" Senko, then it's gotta be on a M spinning rod. If I'm Texas rigging a 5" Senko, then I'm for sure using a MH casting rod.
When rigged wacky I don't really throw it into the thicker stuff--just around riprap or outside tule edges. Texas rigged on 15# test it's going into weeds, docks, trees, etc.

LOL no joke, I took a finesse jig off my x-bites last night and rigged up a weightless senko to give it a try. Then I saw your comment so good timing. I also rigged up my NRX 803 spinning wacky as well...to compare the two.

NRX 802s, 803s, or 804s xmr, depending on how thick the cover is.

I'll use spinning when I use a trick worm wacky rigged, but I've found I just flat out enjoy using my x-bites rod for all weightless plastic presentations when using a little bit heavier plastic w/good salt amount. So which one did you end up preferring?clemsondds wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 6:09 amLOL no joke, I took a finesse jig off my x-bites last night and rigged up a weightless senko to give it a try. Casting 893c.
Normally doing long cast with ikas and senko and the extra length helps with those long cast hook set.
