Re: New St. Croix Bass Rod
Without giving away more that can be said, the eight models listed are either split casting or split spinning. The EVA model you see is for the later release and there is also a full cork handle in there too for the later release models. That's about all I can say.
I know there has been a lot of talk about rod weights and I have put my prototypes on a scale already - I won't post numbers, but I know one compared to an identical Legend Tournament was around an ounce lighter.
If you follow the right people on Instagram there are a lot of prototype stuff such as models and designs that are showing up in stories.

An ounce is a lot of weight! How about the balance point? Have the rear handle lengths changed drastically vs say a comparable LT?NorthCountryBassHead wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 6:23 amWithout giving away more that can be said, the eight models listed are either split casting or split spinning. It is, that one was the 7'4". Makes a guy laugh when people call it another Avid or Mojo. Maybe they'll talk about it on their Facebook live Sunday night.ss30378 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 8:02 amAn ounce is a lot of weight! How about the balance point? There are a lot of new models so it's hard to compare handle lengths, really other than the warranty or location or the source of components, Fuji, this is not comparable to Tournament. Been seeing some posts where some dealers have them already.
Balance is really good even on the big sticks I tested. And yes there are some big ones coming. I know they did it without adding aluminum plugs in the rear or glass plugs.
My favorite is the 73HXF. I throw a swimming jig a lot and I wanted this rod for years. Soft tip. A lot of rear end. Ive been throwing a BigEZ and a Speed Worm in Florida with it and its something special. I'm also using it for Sammys, Spooks, and Vixens around grass edges.
Re: New St. Croix Bass Rod
3.5oz for a 7'1" MH rod is very good! Even 127g is only 4.5oz, guess ill be making a trip over to the shop to check them out myself.bronzefly wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 8:15 amThese are in stock at The Tackle Trap and out on the shelf for folks to come by and see, but they can't and won't be sold until March 19th. If the specs on the previous page are correct that 6'10 ML XF spinning rod definitely has my attention at that weight.bronzefly wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 8:15 amThese are in stock at The Tackle Trap and out on the shelf for folks to come by and see, but they can't and won't be sold until March 19th. Re: New St. Croix Bass Rod
I went and checked out the new victory rods today at TTT. I threw my 6.2oz alphas on to check the balance point of a few models.
Overall they felt very nice, guides aren’t micro small but they aren’t huge either. The EVA insert directly under the reel feels nice but not sure how it will affect sensitivity.
Spinning rods also felt good, 6’10 rod had 7 guides plus tip and the longer ones had 8 plus tip.

Re: New St. Croix Bass Rod
Wow they look tip heavy
Re: New St. Croix Bass Rod
They aren't bad but don't have the "WOW" feather light tip like a Megabass rod. They are very comparable to similar powered ALX and Daiwa rod balance points. The overall weight of the rods is pretty light so it doesn't much power to manipulate the rod.
Re: New St. Croix Bass Rod
I dunno, seems about normal for a SC rod. With a light 6.2oz reel, yeah... if you throw a heavier reel on them, like a Bantam, you'll get some better balance, for an overall higher weight of course. That 7'1MHF looks like it'd balance pretty close to the lock nut with a Bantam, but the 7'4HF definitely looks quite tip-heavy.
Re: New St. Croix Bass Rod
Like the NRX rods?? Still, the spinning rod weights look very interesting. It will be exciting to have a value-priced rod that seems to have quality tech... Can’t wait to try one.
Re: New St. Croix Bass Rod
Tip heavy is tip heavy. Unless you hold your hand in front of the reel heavier reel will not make the tip lighter.
These are nice lookin rods. Hopefully some jerk bait model in the lineup.
