Your most versatile rod?
Re: Your most versatile rod?
For me personally, it's been the Steez AGS 76MML for spinning, and the Megabass P5 Destroyer Tequila Baccarac for casting.
Re: Your most versatile rod?
I think there was a guy on here awhile back who used an NRX A rig rod for a bunch of different things. Before I had a lot of rods a Daiwa heartland I bought for swim baits could flip, frog, deep crank, big spinner, big top water etc

Heartlands are fantastic, designed for versatility. They have the appropriate powers and tapers to fish many different presentations within their individual ratings.

My new most versatile rod choice is the 13 Fishing Defy Black Crankbait Casting Rod 7'4". It is rated for 1/4oz to 1 1/2oz, and handles anything from 3/16oz T rigs to big topwaters. Its a composite crankbait rod, so it has a med action, with a soft enough tip to throw lighter baits, but flexes deeper into the blank on the hookset and fight, so I don't lose treble hooked fish. Plus it's only $80 so I can afford to use it for many of my setups without having to swap out on the water.

For me, it's the Lews Hank Parker 610M. I can toss anything from 1/8 oz t-rig to a 1.5 oz swimbaits like the Black Dog Lunker Punker Shellcracker(plastic version). It legitimately does anything except BFS and big swimbaits, though I've yet to find a reel that is as versatile as the rod. Plus, it was $40, so I'm not afraid to beat the tall bushes to make sure there's no snakes!
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

My Otterods MHX CB907, rated 3/8-1 3/8 is still an excellent all around rod. I can fish bigger single hooks on it by simply going braid, but most times it has a bigger buzzbait, wake bait, topwater or 1 oz + lipless on it. The only limit is that it doesn't like anything lower around the 5/16 weight range.
For all around factory, it's my TKIC Super Stallion.
I'm only about a month and a few outings in for an OG JDM Jackall Poison Adrena 7'0" Swimbait rod rated 3/8-2...this rod is incredible, and fishes plastics and jigs better than some other "swimbait/mod-fast" tapers. It might be a top pick as well by end of year.

Expride 72MH glass for me. Can use it for buzz baits, swim jigs, walking baits and cranks in 1/2-7/8 range, swimsuits on 3/8 jigheads, etc. It has a light enough tip for trebles and enough backbone to fish heavier baits as well. I think it would work fine for texas rigs too but I haven't tried it yet, as I use it mostly for saltwater now.

What reel are you using with the 903c?oops wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 2:37 pmWhen I'm shore fishing for a few hours and may have to throw a few things to figure out what the fish want, there's no question what casting rod is coming with me. I'm grabbing my NRX+ 903c. Absolutely killer rod that can really throw anything. So stoked this rod came to the NRX+ lineup. In addition to its versatility, I simply cannot imagine a better Dark Sleeper rod existing. I wouldn't bother looking for a better spinnerbait or swimjig rod either. Inshore fishing 1/4-5/8oz coast to coast in the US? Look no further. 893c, 821s NRR and 903c are my holy trinity of 10/10 rod purchases, but when it comes to versatility, it's the 903c all day.
I have a Bantam on mine and you are correct, its a fantastic versatile rod.

For versatility, I like my X4 Rattle Viper F3-68X4 as I fish a lot of walking baits, cranks and weightless plastics locally, as well as for smallies in creeks. I caught a 10lb channel cat a few weeks back on a weightless 2.2 Shizumi Mushi on this rod.
If I know the techniques will be heavier, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, etc, it'll be either my XX Diablo Spec R or Jerkbait Special.

A 10lb channel cat on the F3 had to be a damn entertaining fight.Drew03cmc wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 2:38 pmFor versatility, I like my X4 Rattle Viper F3-68X4 as I fish a lot of walking baits, cranks and weightless plastics locally, as well as for smallies in creeks. Steez AGS 73MH UP; fantastic across its lure rating, 1/4-1 oz. For me it shines with 5/16 oz t-rigs and 3/8 oz finesse jigs. Very good with moving baits too; imho, the perfect mh bass rod. Very crisp, very sensitive, and keeps fish pinned pretty well.
Right now I have a '19 Morethan PE TW1000XHL w/ a NRC001-PG+15# FC mounted and its an amazing combo. I'm wondering what a '19 Antares A would feel like on it though...?
