Finesse spinning rods.. What's your first choice?

Post by esvangler » Sun Sep 20, 2020 9:00 am

I recently picked up a NRX 901s and I'm absolutely blown away. I've got it paired with a Twin Power 3000 and I've not had anything that quite stacks up to it. What are your favorite finesse spinning set ups and why??

NRX 822 DSR with a Revo MGX Finesse. Stout enough to drive bigger hooks (as far as finesse goes - i.e. a weedless tube). Sensitive enough to detect the faintest bite.

Thats one of my favorites, too. I've got mine paired with a Stradic ci4+ 2500 and its seen its fair share of fish!

I've been seeing that Steez online, man. From what I've read about it, its a pretty damm good rod. I've been interested in some of Daiwa's higher end stuff here lately. I have the Elite Ags Cody Meyer rod that I like for tubes and shake heads.

I run the 820s glx drop shot rod. It’s got a great soft tip but still can put the boots too them when you need to (or as much boots as you can running 4# mono). I did just build up a nfc ds721 X-ray so I’ll have to do a comparison of the two to see how or if they differ.

I'd like to hear how that 721 performs!

I wasn't really expecting the rod to be as soft as it is, but when it comes down to it, i wouldnt want any other rod and reel when it comes to light line techniques. Absolutely stellar!!

It's legit. I've got the NRX 901 with a CI4 1000 and the 721 Xray I built. It's running a C2000SHG Vanquish and as a Ned/DS rod is dynamite. Very sensitive. Have to give the slight edge to the 901 comparing wacky rigged senkos. Still can feel the water roll over the ribs at 60 ft. 721 has more backbone. Has a little stiffer tip than the soft 901. Both of which with the proper hook just a simple lift and they are pinned. 901 I feel is a better tube rod 3" tube with a 3/32 head there is no better combo, but the 721 is outstanding. I think that goes back to the softer tip of the 901. I need to rig my 901 up with a Ned and do a comparison on that end. My experience with the ned and 721 is you get a lot of those something ain't right feelings a pick up and the drop type deal, and you reel up to find you got more than a Ned at the end. When it's on the bottom and they get it you know it no doubt. Caught a couple crazy 5 lb smallies on it and it handled them just fine. A little more back bone would be nice for control on those but when your on shore running 6lb fluro and in the rocks it is what it is. I think open water you wouldn't have an issue but you still will have to play them out.

Canga can you share how do you like 2017 steez reel vs. other reels you mentioned? sorry this is not rod related but I have my eyes on steez spinning reel just found very little info... I don't have exist but do own Ignis type R and Certate both 16 and 19. on the book Steez has Zaion body, oiled ball bearing and no magseal, wonder how it performs on the water and over time.

any feedback is appreciated :)
