There is any relation between strength of the line (for expl. 8-17lb) shown on the rod and weight that could be lifted by that rod without risk to break it?
Or that numbers related to best casting distance?
If it is related to weight that could be lifted by that rod without risk to break it, why so big span?
If it is 8lb, why extend it to 17? Just tell 8lb max strength of line.

Basically the line rating shows what power the rod is eg. M-MH-H and so on. It is just a guide as to what the rod is going to be used for. Contrary to popular believe, rods are not intended to boat flip fish, even when done properly the rod isn't designed for it. So don't look for any correlation on the rod for any rating in what you can dead lift with the rod, it won't be found on any rod because they aren't designed to dead lift or boat flip fish.
