"Best" Jig rod for 1-1.5oz jigs

Post by freelancer27 » Tue Feb 26, 2019 8:42 am

Hi all,

what are you guys thinking is the 'best' Jig rod for these types of lures? For me best is defined by:

A) Sensitivity
B) Balance of the rod
C) Weight of the rod
D) Casting accuracy

I am currently running the Daiwa Steez XBD Frog Rod rod as my dedicated big jig rod. And I am pretty happy with it. I am playing around with some ideas to move the Steez to become my dedicated frog rod (since my actual frog rod is a bit underpowered when throwing a frog on mats and into cover).

So, just curious to see what you guys would think is the best here?

Thanks & Cheers!

Edited because I didn't see you needed up to 1 1/2 oz my bad:

I would look at the 895 NRX, but it will be a tip heavy rod...I think the 905 conquest would be better because of the balance.

2019 Z-Bone 5H 7-6. 1oz-1.5oz in the "sweet spot" The XBD Frog rod is a good choice, but the Z-Bone is more sensative.

The 905 Conquest is awesome! Balances very well with a Metanium MGL. Currently have a Curado 300 on mine and it doubles very well for throwing A-rigs and will be a great jig rod in the range you are planning to throw.

Thanks all.

Will stick with my Daiwa Steez XBD Frog Rod. Should serve me well for this year at least!
