Anyone able to repair a rod?
Anyone able to repair a rod?
Just fund out that one of my og Megabass rods have a small crack on the blank
From Canada, so someone locally would be preferable to save on shipping cost, but i'm desperate enough to ship to the US, i just want it to be fixed for the coming season. If any of you are able to help, please let me know.
The crack is about 3.7cm long.

Ouch! We feel your pain. Can't help with the repair, but as a MB rod owner, just wondering what model and how did it happen?SSS wrote:Just fund out that one of my og Megabass rods have a small crack on the blank

Rod blank is cracked? It only gets worse... downhill from here...
Rod is toast. Replace it. Could be a defective blank.
I would not attempt any repair on this. You probably won't like the results.
But that is just my opinion and .02 cents on it.

Why is there a concerted effort of hate? And why is it allowed?

It can live on as a nice display piece hanging on a wall!
Keep fishing it and it won't be!

If it is near the grip, a tight thread wrap and epoxy coat might give it more life, but it would be a temporary fix. The flex of the blank under load would eventually split it further in both directions.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I would suggest the same thing.hoohoorjoo wrote:If it is near the grip, a tight thread wrap and epoxy coat might give it more life, but it would be a temporary fix. the flex of the blank under load would eventually split it further in both directions.

This is so sad to hear. I though a carbon wrap with epoxy would fix the thing?

Re: Anyone able to repair a rod?
It would extend the useful life of the rod, but not indefinitely. Without this sort of fix, the rod is is at the end of its life. There is an epoxy-infused cloth tape at most hardware stores that would also work, but it is ugly. I have used it to repair broken shovel handles, so its plenty strong.SSS wrote:This is so sad to hear. I though a carbon wrap with epoxy would fix the thing?

This. Your only other option would be to cut the blank above the crack and reinstall the reel seat, grip, and guides. Sorry to say that the rod as is is done.hoohoorjoo wrote:It would extend the useful life of the rod, but not indefinitely. Without this sort of fix, the rod is is at the end of its life. This is brutal. First Megabass loss for me, never had any problems before.
