"reel seat locking mechanism failing issue". After exchanging PMs with "Bantam1", I sent the defective rod to G.Loomis on 4 February and had an new rod "in hand" on 8 February
The build quality on my NRX 893C, original NRX 852C, new NRX 852C, NRX 902S and Conquest 902S is excellent. That includes the cork after six years of fishing with the 893/original 852 and two years with the NRX 902. The cork on the Conquest is some of the best I have seen/held. And to say I am an obsessive, Type A, extremely "picky" person with regards to my fishing gear would be called an understatement by those who know me
. If there was any issue with those rods, I would be more than the "squeaky wheel" if the issue was not dealt with
So, I am hoping the "trend" holds for me since I have a Conquest 842C and 903C waiting for my return home tonight

My Conquest 842C and 903C arrived today. The cork on both rods is excellent as I expected from my Conquest 902S. It appears the cork on the Conquests is a higher grade than the cork on the NRX rods that I have. All line guides are “spot on” and wraps/epoxy all look excellent also.

Trust me the rods are built by G.Loomis at their factory with exception of the Conquest blank. Those are made by one of our Shimano factories. I just love the disinformation being provided with zero facts or evidence. Bold statement with nothing to back it up except you posted it on the internet.
Yes some guides are wrapped offsite by G.Loomis employees at their homes to make some extra money and to help when the factory is behind in production. It happens from time to time and this has been the case since they started over 25 years ago. The blanks are all marked for guide location and the guides are wrapped later. They are QC checked when the rods come back because the epoxy coating process takes places at the factory after those rods are wrapped.

They say right there in the video. The blanks are built in-house but the guides and handles installs are outsourced to local rod builders.

I've seen and heard of problems like this, but with the 6 NRX rods i have, not one has any blemishes or anything that would put me off of buying them again.. (which i most certainly will!!) When you think really think about it, them being mostly made, small things here and there are going to slip by the quality assurance workers. Its just the way it is.. Do these have major drawbacks on the performance of the rod is the real question?

Small things slip by qc, sure.. But obviously misaligned guides, wraps that look amateur at best, bubbles in epoxy, loose reelseats, and so on.. Those arent just small problems on a flagship product. Doesn't matter tho, they'll keep selling regardless.
