NRX 852c

Anyone used the nrx 852c before? Looking for some uses for it? I acquired one and am trying to see where it fits in. I also have a conquest 842c and wondering how they compare in terms of power and sensitivity etc.

When I first got mines, it was my goto shaky head rod. It’s so soft, you have to hit em really hard with any kind of Texas rig. Now it’s my scrounger rod, vision 110 rod and small cb rod.it gets the most use in spring for jerkbaits, excellent hookup ratio with treble baits

I use mine with tubes, flukes, small plastic swimbaits, light Texas rigs, and whacky rigs in light to no cover.

My NRX 852C is is used for small/mid-sized paddletails, Fat Ika, and shaky head.

Great rod and more power than it might appear. Hooked into something in the Delta with it using a Fat Ika that broke off in a big weed patch before we could get the boat around. Based on the rod/drag action and my partner seeing the tail, we are guessing it was at least 10#. If it had not been for the weed patch, it would have been "in the boat"

I use my 852 for shaky heads and it does not disappoint.

Sensitivity is about the same but i use them differently. Conquest is slower action and stronger butt. For shakeyheads get the nrx. For drop shot i like the conquest more as the tip is slower. Jerkbait i like the nrx because the shorter handle.

Not an nrx but I fish a glx 852c and spend a significant amount of time last year trying to figure out what it will be used for and where it fits in. I found it super soft but surprised with the amount of power it had. Being so soft I found it a little hard to drive a t-rigged hook into a fish (weightless t-rigged senko’s). I only lost 1 maybe 2, but the hook wasn’t driven in like I’m use too. Wacky rig on the other hand it was just deadly. Worked great for shaky heads, nose hooked flukes, small jerkbaits, spybaits, and even had decent luck with 1/8-3/16oz jigs. Have learned to really like this rod
