Your line preference for casting model NRX?
Your line preference for casting model NRX?
I have a 894c. I have owned it for quite a bit, but actually haven't used it much based on my time of ownership.
I am finally going to start putting hours into it.
I will be using it for texas rigs and jigs from the bank in the typical Florida lakes and ponds filled with grass.
I had it paired with a Steeze, equipped with 30lb braid. Recently I paired it with a 2013 Metanium lined with 17lb Seaguar InvizX.
What is your line preference that you feel gets you the most sensitivity out your setup? Braid, fluoro, braid with fluro leader, etc?

Personally I would run 20lb FC on that rod for jigs and T rigs

17 to 20 lb FC for purpose.
Re: Your line preference for casting model NRX?
all my mets besides 1 have 30# Braid on them and I fish them on my 894's, 893s. I fish in and around Okeechobee most of the time. I just find the braid is easy to deal with and I have less drama with it. Up until 5 to 8 years ago when I started to fish FL most of the time, I would have said 17 to 20# fc.

welcome and I recommend you put a small counter balance on that 894 unless your 25 years old. I use a chair leg protector with 3 quarters. makes the rod feel lighter then feather by balancing it._diggy_ wrote:Thanks for the replies

22lb shooter

I like fluoro but I pitch from the front of a boat and feel as though it transmits strikes better on slack line when the bait is falling. If I were fishing strictly from the bank with kind of any cover, I would probably use braid.

my 894c has 20lb Tatsu on it. Mainly use for 1/2 jig and plastic, or some sort of creature bait... Anything heavier ie 1oz+ and I'll move over to the 916UBR (I don't have an 895c)

Used 16# shooter for my 894 last year going to try 14# this year.
