G-Loomis IMX Pro 852c JWR

Post by aqua71 » Mon Jan 21, 2019 8:36 am

I have an opportunity to pick one up at a good price, but I’ve never held one, nor do I have the opportunity to do so in my area. I’m not sure what I would use it for, but I fear it might be too whippy although it’s an Extra-Fast action. I would appreciate any feedback from current owners. Thanks.

I have one and use it for shakey heads, weightless senko's up to 5 inches and going to try it for vision 110 size jerk baits. Sensitivity is real close to the older glx series than the imx .

I got one and if I’m being totally honest I regret buying it. And I only paid 220 for it. I have some orochis xx. And I feel like the imx doesn’t even come close in terms of performance. Not trying to bash Loomis because I have a conquest rod and love it. But after fishing the imx alongside the orochi xx. The imx is severely outclassed

Thanks for the feedback. Does anyone feel the 3/8 oz upper range is the limit or can it be exceeded? More importantly, I realize it's labeled as Extra Fast, but I've never used a 2 power Loomis and I fear it might be too soft/whippy, so I would really appreciate some feedback on that. Thanks again.

I don't mind a little flex in my tip. Having said that I think 3/8 would be the upper end.
I have not thrown a 3/8 jig plus trailer. Not what I got it for.

I thinks it's an incredible rod. Shaky heads, 1/4oz finesse jigs with medium hook, weightless senkos, poppers, 3.5" Rebel minnows/jerkbaits, belly weighted swimbaits, and ballhead jigs with grubs all excel with this rod. Super sensitive, and balanced. Ever since getting it I hardly pick up my medium spinning rod. It's fun to fish with. Did you end up getting one?
