MB Orochi xx EMTF for jigs & t-rigs

Post by jiggerjake » Sun Jan 13, 2019 10:55 am

Anyone using the MB Orochi XXEMTF as a jig rod(1/2oz) and bulkier t-rig 1/4oz-5/16oz w/trailer ? I prefer a bit slower action and read a few reviews on its capabilities beyond moving baits.

I understand the newer version is a tad slower in action. Would I be better off looking for a gen1 or are the newer versions stilll a good bet.Or...should I be looking at something else all together FMJ,Daemos,Braillist ?

I found the G1 XX and the X7 versions to be superb jig/t-rig rods, no experience with the newer offering =P~

Pass. The current one is a crankbait rod. The old one was great for bottom contact.

FMJ is probably more suitable. I used mine for 1/4oz+ bulky Trigs and it worked well. It was pretty much made for 1/2oz jigs

Everyone fishes differently buy one and find out  Personally they were excellent jig and t rig rods speaking on the the X7 and G1 XX iterations. Top notch IMHO

Thanks Cristo. I'm going to keep an eye out for one and hopefully can score one before spring.

Keep in mind that the latest G2 Orochi rods, specifically the EMFT is going to be a medium fast action whereas the X7 in the G1 XX version are fast action. The G2 XX maybe more your taste. In either case I don't think you can go wrong ;)

To me it seems like the Gen1 EMTF is more comparable to the Gen2 Braillist than it is to the Gen2 EMTF

I would hold off on that assumption(Bigger taper I am sure, lure weight range is quite different) more like Brailist is the younger big brother 8-) . Again I have no experience with G2 Orochi line. Not my cup of tea personally. Good luck with your journey it should be fun as always 8-)
