What rod caught you the most fish in 2018?

Post by Hennessy » Sun Dec 30, 2018 2:59 pm

Curious to hear anyone’s answer on this, maybe there’s a popular rod out there that I need to add to my collection. For me it was the NRX 893 & I think it caught more fish than all my other rods combined. Mine had a metanium mgl xg on it

What did you throw on your 893c that made it so successful! I did well on a few rods that’s I’m not sure if I can narrow it down. One of them was definately my imx pro 845 cbr, another was my imx pro 884 twfr! Unfortunately my glx 894c and glx 852c didn’t come till late in the season as I was starting to really slay some fish on them towards the end of season

I smacked 'em down all year with a 1st gen Tatula 6101MHFB/Zillion SV 6.3/12# Invizx throwing 3.8 swing impact fats with two 1/32 nail weights, the so-called two nail chikubi rig. Caught more on it than any other by far. I ordered an MS-X 610m/regular and 70mh/regular fast to see how they do with that. I don't know how they could be any better, honestly, but at least I can have two different colors going at once in case they want one over the other. I'm sure they'll get a lot of use in the coming year for a variety of purposes.
This is the way.

tight race between my nrx852s or my Majorcraft Nanoace 6'9m xfast...i really focused alot on finesse fishing and no joke i am so surprised how well built and sensitive the Majorcraft rod is for $100..i recommend them highly to alot of my friends who casually fish and want a nicer rod..having owned dobyns champion and dx lineup as well i fell as if i stole the nanoace at $100...lot of drop shot, ned rig, and wacky worming this year..looking forward to the spring thaw here in WI. Happy New Year and tight lines

I wish they'd expand their domestic offerings. I never got a nanoace, but I'm sure it's about the best $100 rod anywhere.

Fenwick Aces 63L caught the most for me by a decent margin. It's an extremely versatile rod that can do a little of everything. The majority of fish came on the LBR, Mid-Strolling, Flick Shake, and Spybait.

My TenRyu Rayz Spectra UL JDM rod. It’s my go to setup when I head out to wet a line.

As has been the case the last few years it was my X7 Nautilus again which I use as my primary jig / worm rod as well as for single hook moving baits, topwaters, and jerkbaits at times as well.

Quantum Smoke 7' M/F throw Fat Ikas and Paddle tails. By far caught the most fish with that rod cause it is by far my most use rod.

In second place would be St Croix Avid 8' ML/Mod rod.

FMJ and SV103H 16# shooter and usually 5/16oz Trig or shakey head. I think my St.Croix 7MH LE was a close second. I had my anteras strapped to it with 14# trilene xl. I used the LE for topwater, spinnerbaits and traps. That 7MH LE is something for keeping treble hook fish pinned.

Falcon Bucoo Micro - made in USA only. (No Chinese Falcon rods)

The Falcon has been stripped down and redone in a custom spiral wrap and I just can't put it down. Super light. Very sensitive. A sweet combo.
Why is there a concerted effort of hate? And why is it allowed?

FMJ fishing a jig or t-rigged craw by far. Admittedly I did neglect most of my collection last year and just fished that rod most trips.

Same as the last few years, my NRX 842c sees a huge amount of use every trip. Love that rod for everything I do inshore. 1000’s of trips and 1000’s of hours use and it’s still crushing big fish daily.
