Re: Megabass F5-72X Daemos
I have one, mainly texas rigs, jigs up to 3/8oz, some spinnerbaits, jerk baits, even square bills (if I don't bring a cranking rod). what do you want to know?
I bought it to complement my FMJ for lighter contact work. The Daemos has a softer tip and casts the sub 3/8oz better than the FMJ. Both are very sensitive/crisps (in my hands), balanced and light...
I wasn't sure what to expect as the FMJ is a 7'1"H true jig rod (and heavy TR). about perfect for how I fish jigs.
The Daemos is 7'2" and a MH, was it going to be a FMJ jr (F5 vs F6)?
The Daemos is a solid "search for one" candidate, albeit with a more single hook focus. If your familiar to the
F5 Diablo Spec R, it is a faster, lighter, better model. It is a better caster than the FMJ or Diablo, more precision pinpoint casts.
I was originally going to get it for just TR, and a get a 110 rod for jerking, I use the Daemos for both. It is also my primary POND rod (I like to only care one rod when walking around). It handles my pond mix great (3/8jig, 1/4TR, weightless senko, 3/8 oz spinnerbait, lipless crank, square bill). I do however switch to the FMJ when I am on a serious jig bite...
if your in AZ, we can meet up and I'll let you try it out (I have a pretty decent pond in my neighborhood to test on)...

What reel do you have on it?

BTW,
Thanks for the information, you certainly have me pointed in the right direction with it.
I asked about the reel your using to see how it’s being balanced.
What I don’t want is a rod with the same specs as the Gambler 30th I have.

I switch reels out all of the time .
Steez sv tw, tatula sv tw, tatula 100 with DIY spool, core50mg7, Pixy PX68-R
lately been pond thrashing with the tatula 100, it will empty the Ray's DIY spool with a 1/4TR or 3/8oz jig with a yamamoto spider grub. I switch between 20# and 40# jbraid brand with and without leaders and having been having a blast with 2# to 8# pond bass this year. I went last week and was even casting lipless cranks and landed a bunch or 2-4# fish.
It balances best with the Steez/Core. but even fishes well with the heavier Tatula sv.
isnt the Gambler a F7 with a more moderate taper? this is a F5 with a fast taper.

Got to go back to the rod glossary. Lol
I’d say that they gambler is anything but moderate. I call it ex fast.

Re: Megabass F5-72X Daemos
interesting, I always thought that rod was a Med Fast. I must have been mistaken. Have you fished the FMJ? The FMJ as a F6 is quite a bit stouter than the Daemos F5. I know that comparing different lines F5,F6, F7 don't always match up. I would have thought a Gambler F7 would be even stouter than the FMJ?
Re: Megabass F5-72X Daemos
You had a Pixy on the Daemos, how did that work out?
The gambler is a stout rod, without a doubt. I can put a 3/4 Oz jig and the tip won’t give
I’ve used it to pitch with and caught bream on it.

Re: Megabass F5-72X Daemos
nice, I think your Gambler is closer to the FMJ. the Daemos would be a lighter model, I compare the Daemos more to prior Bearing Downs that I owned.
Re: Megabass F5-72X Daemos
I've used the PIXY and a tuned SOL on it, it was great for cranking and texas rigging. I swapped out the Pixy for the new Tatula 100 as I really like an 8.1:1 for my plastics. I think I am going to get a JDM Steez XG for it.
Re: Megabass F5-72X Daemos
I use my Daemos as a dedicating swim jig rod
Re: Megabass F5-72X Daemos
i agree word for word on what vishus said although ive never tried squarebills on it.
jigs and t-rig (1/4-3/8oz plus plastic) is what i mainly use it for but also great with single hook moving baits in the 1/2oz range. i even like it for 5 and 6 inch senkos.
the daemos and the fmj have become two of my favorite rods. in the top 5 no doubt.
both are very well balanced and in my hands balance well with any reel, light or heavy.

Thanks for the great info fellas , it’s exactly what I was wondering about as well. Mine should be coming in the first week of January.
Would you rate it as comparable to a Loomis 3 or 4 power or in between like 3.5?

Re: Megabass F5-72X Daemos
I use mine with a steez a. It used completely for spinnerbaits, swimjigs and swimbaits under 6 inches. I think it would load up nice for light t rigs etc but I end using my emtf for those duties. I have really fell in love with the rod for 4-5 inch swimbaits in the grass.
Re: Megabass F5-72X Daemos
I love my Daemos. I use it for jerkbaits, and single hook power fishing. Mine is paired with a Daiwa Ize Light.
