Best Football Jig Rod Under $120
Best Football Jig Rod Under $120
Looking specifically for a football jig rod that won't break the bank - yet have good sensitivity with a good tip , plenty of backbone , nice feel and light weight (not asking for much here) to be used with 3/8th oz. and 1/2 oz. traditional light hook football jigs with craw trailers on #15 lb. FC line in gravel / chunk rock reservoirs . On my short list is either a Dobyns 733C. Fury or 744C. Fury , a 7'3" MH/F Tatula and a BPS Carbonlight 2.0 7'3" MH/F ... For those with experience / comments I'd like to hear what you like ?

Of those 3, the Tatula will give you the most sensitivity.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

If I may offer an alternative, the Uribe Riverside M2 is perfect for that application. I was dragging 1/2 keitech footballs with 3" swimbaits Monday for smallies in 20-40ft and the sensitivity was stunning for a $110$ rod. Action and taper felt like a St Croix Avid 70MHF. Read the TT Review on it.

Re: Best Football Jig Rod Under $120
I use a 1st Gen Tatula 711MHXB with 15# Invizx and a 6101MHFB with 12#. Both work great with the Keitech model 2's I normally throw. I've even had luck casting the 3/8 model 2 with a 2.8 fat with the 6101MXB, but in order to ensure a solid hook set with that rod, realistically you'd have to use 20-30# braid. I was almost spooling 10# Invizx on an sv105 with it and they were hitting it on the drop. I lost as many as I caught, and most of those were lightly hooked. I had no trouble whatsoever feeling the hit, though.
This is the way.

Now I have expanded my search to say $150 or under (with Black Friday Sales) ... A Powell Endurance 733 or 734 , maybe a iRod Genesis II (not sure the FB jig model ?) or the Uribe Riverside M2 $110) .

*Actually scratch the Uribe Riverside M2 (don't like twisted spiral guides) and add the Tatula .

Some of the Phoenix Rods will fall into your price range, especially if you can get them on sale for black Friday. It wouldn't hurt checking them out as well.

I concur. If not, go with the Tatula.PerchHater wrote:Some of the Phoenix Rods will fall into your price range, especially if you can get them on sale for black Friday. It wouldn't hurt checking them out as well.
