Post by Matt_3479 » Sun Nov 04, 2018 3:12 pm

Got the bug to add another rod to the arsenal but unsure of which one. Trying to decide between a glx mbr or a glx/nrx 893. Any thoughts?

- glx 852
- imx pro 884 twfr
- imx 845 cbr
- kistler helium medium heavy fast
- dobyns Sierra 734
- 13 fishing envy black 7’6 heavy extra fast

Nrx 893 w/o a doubt, pretty sure it’ll become your favorite rod. That’s what happened to me once I got that model & I think I had 3 other nrx rods at the time

X2, another great one is an NRX 852
Get your kids hooked on fishing, and they'll never have any money for drugs or alcohol.

Which kistler do you think would fit in there nicely. My kistler is an older helium lta and might be going to a buddy that’s why I was debating the mbr 842/843

I’m just waiting for one to go on sale or a good used one to come up. I am itching to get this rod but I feel like I might be waiting a while. I was talking to a few bass pro’s sponsored by shimano and both said the 2016 glx are a much better bang for buck then the nrx and they recommened most models in the glx but both of them said you have to get the nrx 893c as it’s a totally different animal then the glx 893

the 7'1" medhvy
it does a lot of things well and has the backbone that is required. Its LIGHT and won't cause you premature fatigue on the water.
It skips like a dream. Helped me, thats for sure.

Agreed on the NRX 893.

It is my Senko (Izz Rig) rod and goes out on every trip, no matter the lake.

Add a GLX MBR, it’s such a versatile rod.

If you like GLX MB taper I suggest Conquest 903. If you like faster action then NRX 893 will be your best choice. Both are awesome rods. Conquest is more versatile. Sensitivity comparable. Myself like Conquest better. It got better components too.
